mini-sabbatical

was woken up by a babble of excited voices discussing partial differential equations.. and i thought i died at night and went to hell. it was actually arul n' sank trying to help ash with his assignment. then they left, so i dived right in too - what sheer fun, doing PDEs first thing in the morning! and if anyone of you here believed that earlier statement, then you either don't know me or need your head checked. after solving the one problem, i went back to sleep, too much mental effort.. in fact i convinced myself that there was no work that was sooo pressing that i had to get up and go to the lab!!

vip n' arul got back in the afty, we rustled up some grub.. then smoked up and played cricket in the backyard.. it was beautiful, the grass was shiny green, the evening sunlight dappled the branches with faded gold and a light breeze blew through the houses.. a perfect end-summer evening. we could see the ball exceptionally well, the bat followed through beautifully, and time came to a standstill as we were able to think out and play every shot as if in a dream.. its a completely different thing that the hands had a life of their own and refused to listen to the mind, so execution of the mind's decisions was not always spot on!

stella dropped in to say hi, and marisha & siddhartha stopped by for dinner on their way back to pittsburgh from toronto. was high and inspired today when i cooked. made a dry stir-fry mince, daal and a mixed veggie.. it came off really well, if i must say so myself. :-)) it was good.. everyone was here today together after a long time. we watched '2 Fast 2 Furious', then our regular double hour of M*A*S*H too.

Even after so many years, if you remember how to solve PDEs, is really really commendable... i am in my third year... and could not solve even a simple differential equation, let alone PDEs...

as for the cricket... guess it would be fun to play it on foreign soil!!

Sleep, wake, play, smoke, cook, dream... but not necessarily in that order. I envy your life sometimes, it's like a reverie of sorts.
