2 days to go
every morning i wake up now the Metallica show inches closer and closer.. for those who think i'm overhyping this moment.. well, maybe i am.. but this was one of the reasons why i came to this country in the first place.. yet another chapter in the 'American Dream', a pretty sizeable and important chapter too!
woke up around lunchtime.. and thought about going to the lab.. and then let that remain a thought only! though i did have a few ideas with where to direct my efforts next week.. watched 'Tom n Jerry' on tv at lunchtime!! that was so cool! that has to be one of the most timeless cartoons of all time, and i don't think you can ever outgrow those two!!
went to class.. and was kinda listless.. restless.. couldn't wait to get out.. thank god i'll be done with my courses this sem.. cos this is getting very boring! 'Troy' was being screened in the Student Union auditorium, and we had decided to go for the night show at nine.. vip had to go to a prof's barbecue.. mal, hmm.. i have no idea why mal didn't come.. sank, nats, ash, arul and i went and shot some pool in the game room, then went for it.. i was completely buzzed by then thanks to a couple of beers and 'bong-hits' before i left home.. i was either potting every ball in sight, or rearranging everything on the table!!
'Troy' was good, the screnplay writers made a good effort to adhere to history.. and the war scenes were just as good as they were in Lord of The Rings.. and man, Achilles (Brad Pitt) kicked some serious ass.. Hector (Eric Bana) played a solid role too, as did Briseis (Rose Byrne = yummy!).. arul and i were completely tripping on the war scenes, comparing them to similar war moves in Age of Empires.. the 'knight rushes', 'pikemen charge', sacking the cities, burning the town-centres!! awesome stuff!
our bong went a step higher today.. i'd been thinking all day if there was a way of passing the smoke through the water instead of just pushing the water out from up-top.. that way not only would the smoke be cooled, it would be filtered out a fair bit too.. and after a major brainstorm.. we realised a simple answer.. just sticking a straw under the bowl would do it.. so that the smoke would bubble out right near the bottom of the bottle.. so we did it, and yes people.. we are just about ready to get a couple of patents out.. and i know how we can shortcut the FDA here by claiming 'substantial equivalency' and getting a '510(k) exemption' on this!! then we made a further modification - little pinholes on the length of the straw for diffuse bubbling, creating turbulence in the flow.. more bubbles mean more mixing.. only one small problem though, the smoke picked up a very bad odour going through the plastic straw since it was a very low MP plastic (LDPE).. i guess next step now is using medical grade silicone rubber.. and increasing contact time with the water, and also flavored, chilled water.. hmm..
got home pretty late, so we went to Jim's Steakout to pick up dinner.. subs and burritos.. watched 'M*A*S*H', got hungry for dessert, and had to take that 'chemical' taste out of the mouth, so went to 'On The Run' to get whipped cream, twinkies and a pepsi.. got back home, then saw this PBS special on how the Red Indians lost their land to gold-diggers, farmers and other settlers.. and all of General Custer's follies.. was really whacked, cos i slumped out on my couch around 4ish..
