quandary
you are on the lower rungs of the management ladder and still a rookie, so basically you follow what you are told when implementing procedures and managing the staff. a mistake comes through undetected, trickling all the way down to your level. a big mistake actually, hidden in the guise of a misprint, which could cost almost 10% of the daily efficiency statistic.
you don't pick up the mistake, thinking if it has passed through so many hands before yours everything must be pretty correct. at the last second the mistake is detected, and there is a loss of time as the procedure is corrected. you being on the lowest level, naturally take all the fallout. is it your fault? partly yes, cos you should have seen it.. and partly no, cos you would never have known.
i am furious, both with myself and with where the mistake originated. i feel it's a no-win situation, cos everyone takes a dump on those below them, and i am not the kind of person who likes shifting blame. i guess the only way around it is to try to be sharper at what i am doing.
