drive-thru office

yes, no kidding! it's finally happened! the new BMW plant in Leipzig, Germany.. designed by the architect Zaha Hadid.. the assembly line actually runs through the offices!! On silver conveyor belts overhead, the bodies of the new BMW 3-Series cars make their way from fabrication to the paint shop.. winding above the design workstations, and the cafeteria too.. the theatrical flow of car shells is visible from almost all points of the open-plan offices!

just outof fabrication

above the cafeteria

headed to paintshop
i apologise for the grainy images, my paparazzi-at-large was using his cellphone for these!

i'm not really sure how i feel about such an office.. on one hand it would be great to see the stuff i make, as it's being fabricated and shunted around.. on the other, when i'm on my lunchbreak, and it's been a particularly frustrating day, the last thing i wanna see is another damned car hovering above me like a damned satellite!! but one thing's for sure, it's one helluva plant to be working in.. with the ice-cool BMW blue ambient lighting!
